She was very involved in the Beau-Head Seniors Club as well as Crime Stoppers, and recognized as a community volunteer.  She loved playing cribbage and very rarely missed a game at either the Beau-Heads or at the Legion on Saturdays.

A sincere thanks to Dr. Nick Van Rensburg, Cindy Bialek, and all the wonderful caring staff at East Gate Lodge, including kitchen staff , cleaning staff and all the angels who were involved in her care.  A very sincere thanks to all her friends and neighbours for their support; they know who they are.  A special thank you to the pallbearers.

Peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones at Pinawa Hospital, Keith took his final flight home. From diagnosis, in late February until his passing, he faced his fate with great courage and determination to provide for his loved ones until his end.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Sheila; daughter Tammy (Richard); son Shawn (Charmaine); stepchildren: Melissa (Phil),  Richard, and  Aaron (Crystal); his grandchildren: Shayre, Richard, Myles, Amber, Anthony, Layton, Jarrod, Emma, Kate, Kimberly and Mykayla; sister Carol (Albert): and brothers: Clifford (Gwen), Michael (Julie), Robert (Donna), Paul (Trina). His in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends will also sadly miss him.

His love of nature and animals was displayed in everything about him, his home, his clothing, and the variety of pets he had over the years.

He was a very hard working man his entire life, with 28 years with the City Of Winnipeg Hydro, retiring in 2002. He went on to work at URL until his diagnosis of widespread cancer in February of this year.

In keeping with Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service, but we ask that you remember him as you take in all the wonders of the great outdoors.

Paul Mazur

1918 ~ 2013

Paul Mazur passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Beausejour, at the age of 94 years.

He was predeceased by Rose, his wife of 68 years in 2012, his son Raymond, and his parents.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Leonard (Patricia), Donald (Susan), Alvin, Brian (Susan), Patrick (Connie); his daughter Linda; as well as 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Dad was born and raised in the Brokenhead-Ladywood area into a family of 14 (10 brothers and 4 sisters).  There he farmed, and worked in the bush, cutting pulp.  He often talked about the purchase of a Red River Thresher and a John Deere Tractor for the farm.  He married Rose Urbanski on July 8, 1944 in Ladywood, Manitoba.  Shortly after, in 1948 he purchased property from Anton Wielgosh ; a blacksmith shop and a small house at the corner of Park Avenue and 2nd Street, in Beausejour.  There he eked out a living by blacksmithing, grinding grain into flour, repairing wooden wheels and sleighs, building wooden grain boxes and sawmills, welding, and so on.

Since Dad didn’t believe in borrowing money from banks, he worked long and hard hours to provide for his family of seven.  Over time, he was able to expand, diversify into the Tow Truck business, and build a very reputable business.  Much of the building expansion and diversity was done by himself and the family.

In the mid 1970’s, an opportunity arose and he purchased a farm in the Dencross area.  He was so overjoyed to experience again the love for the land.  He worked the land much like he did the Blacksmith Shop.

Dad and Mom always believed in the simple things in life.  He worked so hard from early morning to late at night, pounding plough shares, and doing repairs.  He instilled in us the solid core values of life that hold us in good stead to this day.

A special thank you to the staff at Beausejour Hospital and East Gate Lodge for all their care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire, they may sign Paul’s book of condolence at Sobering Funeral Chapel, on Saturday, May 11, 2013 between 10:00 a.m. and Noon.

Now he is resting alongside Rosie.  May they rest in peace.
