David Lewis John Hebert

David, aged 48 years, passed away quietly in the early hours of June 11, 2017.

David leaves behind his wife of 24 years Teresa, daughter Tiffany, his parents Gerard and Margaret, Lew and Darlene, in-laws Frank and Valerie, brother Scott (Rosalie), sister Christy (Brian), sister Mandy, sister Terine (Dan), brother Travis (Jocelyne), and brother in law David. He also leaves behind his nieces, Jessie, Meredith, Camryn, Brooke, Emily, Kendalyn, Emma, Ryleigh, Maggie and Gracie, nephews, Max, Jack and Maxwell, his Overland work family whom he loved dearly and many more special friends.

David enjoyed being part of the community of Tyndall and spent his time helping out in ways which would be beneficial to the community.  He helped with the construction of the Garson playground, was a proud and active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3386 for 17 years, held the position of President for one year and helped out at the Eagles annual barbecue when he could.   David was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed help.  Many times, he would come home from work and a call would come in from someone needing his help and David would eat supper and off he would go.   He was also an avid fisherman.  He loved his annual fishing trips to Echo lake and spending time with the group of guys that he always went with.  David also had a passion for sports.  His favorite sport was hockey and he enjoyed the fact that he got to play hockey every week with his dad and step-mom at the Sun Gro Centre. He also enjoyed football and was fond of the times he and his friend Steve would take part in attending the Winnipeg Blue Bomber games.  Family meant everything to David.  He was so very grateful of the support he received from his Mom and Jerry and for all the driving and attending of all of his appointments.  When his mom suddenly fell ill it was of great comfort to David that they could be in the same hospital together.    He was thankful to Frank and Val for looking after the yard and lawn maintenance during our absence and for picking up groceries when we couldn’t make it to the store.  Thank you to Lew and Darlene and Frank and Val for their help with driving David to and from his appointments.  Special thanks to our neighbor, Ken for tending to the snow removal over winter, and to the Eagles Aerie #3386 for their help with the lovely social they put on for him.

Most notably David was an excellent father to Tiffany.  She was the light of his life. When she was born he was the first to hold her and he gave thanks to God for the precious miracle of life he held in his hands.   He was actively involved with her guitar, piano and 11 years of dance lessons.  He coached her little league soccer too and volunteered on the Board of Directors during her dance at the CCDA.    Tiffany and David went on annual camping/fishing trips.

David, a very tall and handsome man truly was a kind and gentle soul.  He could rock any look and had a smile that would light up any room.  He was a fighter and fought and worked hard for his family.  He always held an upbeat optimistic attitude toward life, was the life of the party and had a terrific sense of humor.  He was the best husband and best friend anyone could ever ask for.   He will be forever missed.

We would like to thank NP Hessie, the staff at HSC and at St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care he received.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in David’s memory may be made to his daughter Tiffany Hebert at the Sunova Credit Union in Beausejour.

There will be a family service with close friends at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Garson on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  If you choose not to attend the church service there will be a gathering at Garson Community Centre at 1:00 p.m.
