Glen Wendal Fuerst

May 17, 1956 to April 12, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother and uncle, Glen Wendal Fuerst, beloved son of Irene Fuerst, on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg at the age of 53 years.

Besides his mom Irene, he is also survived by his brothers Marlis Fuerst, Gayard (Kathy) Fuerst, Randy (Rhea) Fuerst; sisters Laureen Fuerst (Dennis), and Sharon (Ron) Singbeil. He was predeceased by his father Irvin Fuerst and infant sister Marlene.

Glen was born on May 17, 1956 in Beausejour. In his earlier years, Glen worked for Eric’s Plastering and at Sun Gro Horticulture (Mospur Peat Moss Plant). Glen was very athletic in sports, very outgoing, and loved to dance.

On July 10, 1983, Glen was involved in a diving accident which left him with a severe neck injury. In the days that followed, he enjoyed being at his Bird River cabin and at his ice fishing shack on the Red River.

Family and friends meant the world to him as he liked to reminisce about all his good times that he had.

Special thanks to Glen’s personal attendant, Irene McKay, for all her care, patience and support while he was in hospital and at home.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue E, Beausejour, with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the Golden Bay cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Singbeil, Marlis Fuerst, Gayard Fuerst, Randy Fuerst, Darren Singbeil and Gavin Fuerst. Honourary pallbearers will be Dennis Stroud and Ron Sachvie.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Manitoba Rehabilitation Centre, c/o The Health Sciences Centre Foundation, 800 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 9Z9.
