Josephine “Judy” Buchanan (Nee Bennett)

1921 ~ 2012

Peacefully on September 2, 2012 Judy Buchanan passed away at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home.  She is the beloved stepmom to Grant (Linda) Buchanan of The Pas, Doreen (Robin) Light of Winnipeg and Roger (Linda) Buchanan of Winnipeg. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  Judy was predeceased by her husband Percy, mother Josephine, father Thomas and sister Margaret.

Judy was born in Winnipeg, graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Home Economics Degree and furthered her education at Columbia University in New York City.  She worked for various health services as a dietician and assisted Drs. Banting and Best in Toronto with their research into the feasibility of controlling type 2 diabetes through diet alone.  Returning to Winnipeg, Judy worked for St. Boniface Hospital and the Victorian Order of Nurses retiring with Percy to Lac du Bonnet where she continued her dietician work with various personal care homes in the area.

It would be very difficult to find a more caring, accepting, non-judgemental person.  Rest in peace and know you were loved.

The family will be holding a private service.
