Muriel Laurel Turner (Bukoski) Nee Beaudry

March 28, 1922 — March 28, 2014

1922 ~ 2014

Muriel passed away peacefully at East Gate Lodge on Saturday, April 19, 2014.  She was born January 17, 1922 in Ashern, Manitoba.

Muriel is survived by sons Joe (Bonnie) Bukoski, Jim (Linda) Bukoski, and  Andy Bukoski; grandchildren, Joe (Janet) Bukoski, Erin (Mark) Wilson, Kelly (Terry) Lackman and Jeffery (Shannon) Bukoski; great-grandchildren Ryder and Parker Wilson, Piper and Rommy Bukoski, Lucas Bukoski and Jase Lackman; siblings Shirley Currie, Geraldine Dacombe, and Rod (Rose) Beaudry; sisters-in-law Louise Beaudry, Evelyn and Frances Bukoski; brothers -in -law John and Cashmere Bukoski; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Muriel was predeceased by her parents Edith and Finley Beaudry;  first husband Joe Bukoski; infant son Robert Bukoski; second husband Tom Turner; great-grandson Brayden Lackman;  siblings Doreen Scarlett and Orval Beaudry;  brothers-in-law Ed Dacombe, Erle Currie and Clarence Scarlett.

Muriel married Joe in 1942.  Together, they purchased the Beaudry farm, which was adjacent to the Bukoski farm in Seabright.  In the early 1950s, they relocated to Winnipeg and then later settled in Tyndall.  After Joe’s passing, Muriel entered the work force for the first time (at the age of 48).  She completed several cooking courses and secured the position of head cook at East Gate Lodge  and later Middlechurch Home.  In 1982, Muriel married Tom Turner.  Together they enjoyed retirement.

Muriel’s passion in life was entertaining; many family dinners and functions were held at her home.  She is famously remembered for her outstanding cooking.  Family was of greatest importance; one of her wishes was to live long enough to enjoy her great grandchildren.  She has had the pleasure of spending time with all 7.

Muriel was always “on the move”.  Sometimes her travels would take her to new destinations, such as Europe, England, Scotland and the USA.  Other times, it would be a change of residence; she has had the pleasure of calling Winnipeg, Selkirk, Tyndall, Garson and Beausejour home (some more than once!).   For the past two years, Muriel has resided at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, Manitoba. The family would like to thank all of the staff for the excellent care received.

A celebration of Muriel’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour, Manitoba. Reception to follow at the Brokenhead River Community Hall, Beausejour Room.  Everyone is welcome to attend.   A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Flowers are gratefully declined.  Donations may be made in memory of Muriel to East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, Manitoba.
