Agnes Walters (Goulet)

Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On May 1, 2020 @ 12:04 pm In Obituaries | 27 Comments

November 8, 1938 ~ April 17, 2020

Surrounded by loving family, Agnes (Aggie) Walters, was ushered peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord, set free from her battle with Dementia. She had longed to be with her Gerry, waiting on the “far side banks of Jordan.”

Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerry Walters, grandson Michael Walters, and 3 of her siblings, Ellen Misener-Hudlin, Penelope Epp, and Dennis Weiss. Mom will be sadly missed by her children: Lisa (Bryan) Johnston, Tracy (Kim) Huguet, Shaun (Monika) Walters, and Sherri (Jamie) Spiring.  She is survived by her sisters, Darlene (Dave) Keir, Kerri (Wes) Rist, brother Doug Weiss and brother-in-law, David Epp, and leaves behind several adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Mom later moved to Pinawa with her husband, Gerry, and worked as a Legal Secretary at A.E.C.L. She readily welcomed people into her home with a cup of coffee or a meal, and was known as the “best tipper in town!” Mom was proud to call Pinawa, “Home.” She was President of the Pinawa Cookbook, and volunteer work included the Community Dinners. The Pinawa Birthday week-end was one of her big highlights. Many Pinawa residents enjoyed Mom’s pecan pies, buns and Werthers candies!  Mom supported World Vision, Compassion, and Siloam Mission.

Mom was proud of her Gabriel and cheered him on at hockey games. She enjoyed time in Grand Forks with her sisters, daughters and granddaughter, Lauren. Mom, a winter Texan, liked to attend flea markets, shop, play cards and dominoes, line-dance, attend Bible studies, Jams, Mexico trips, and help children at an orphanage.

Mom…Forever in our hearts…til we meet again.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bruneau, Lac Du Bonnet Personal Care Home Staff, Home Care Workers, Pinawa Hospital Staff, the Ironwood Staff, and Mom’s many friends for all the care, compassion, and kindness shown. We appreciate you.

As per mom’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Aggie’s life will be held at a later date, at the Pinawa Alliance Church. Details will follow.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations in Aggie’s memory could be made to Siloam Mission in Wpg., or to charity of choice.

I am so going to miss my “Auntie Aggie”. It feels surreal to me that she has left us. I keep feeling like she will be there the next time I drive into Pinawa after this pandemic is all over… She was like another grandmother to me, always welcoming, proud of me, full of encouragement and prayers. She was so caring and kind. I always knew that I could stop in anytime and she would greet me happily and offer tea, blessings and conversation. She will be missed.

My heartfelt condolences to Aggie’s family on her passing.
I got to know Aggie at the annual ladies retreat that was held out at Providence College in Otterburne until about 15 some years ago.
She was pleasure to know & we were always in for some joy & laughter with her presence. I am sure the angels are enjoying her presence now. Aggie will be rejoicing with her Lord & Saviour!
