Condolences for the family of “Alan Herie”

Condolence from Janis Lemire on September 1st, 2021 12:57 am

So very sorry to Aunty Germaine and the whole family. Any one that knew Alan knew he was very talented, especially when his unicorn mural graced the hallways of Powerview school for many many years. I was saddened when they covered that up. He spent many hours on that one project. I used to be proud when my little class would walk by all lined up in a row on our way to the library and I’d always say hi to Alan and tell anyone willing to listen that he was my cousin.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to all of Alan’s family and friends. So sorry to hear the news. That picture is pretty much how I remember him. He was a great friend, some of my best memories are playing games in his yard, building the tiny cabin with our own hands at his grandparents and the patience he had trying to teach me some tunes on his guitar. It’s been many years since I last saw him but our friendship still lives in my heart.

My deepest sympathies to Alan and family. i grew up with Allan, we were both members of the Fort Maurepas Boy scout troop and played in a band in high school together. Some of my fondest memories involve you Al. I remember the time we winter camped out on the Maskwa river for a weekend with the scouts. We set up white prospectors tents with stoves, There we learned how to check the ice for thickness before walking on it. With your dad and mine, the adult leaders taught us how to use a compass and build a shelter out of spruce boughs. At night we listened to the wolves howling at the moon that seemed to be just outside our tents! We also played in a high school rock band together. You were the lead guitarist and I played rhythm. You had the coolest gear, and truly a creative mind with all the talent in the world. The memories we shared warm me up inside like the hot coals in that old stove in the prospectors tent on that cold wintery night.
Thank you for being my friend. You will be missed.
Cory Doyle
