Dear Frank. Sheri and Lisa,

I was so saddened to learn of Carol’s passing. Although I knew that she was ill, it is just so hard to believe that she has passed. Although it has been over 30 years since we left Pinawa, I still remember Carol as a wonderful, kind, caring person and a great nurse. May great memories keep you comforted in your grief.

Frank and family,
It was very heartbreaking to learn of Carol’s passing. I shall always remember her as a good friend, nursing classmate, roommate and traveling companion in California and the many times we visited when she went to London to see her Mom and brothers. May you and Sheri and Lisa have some solace knowing she is pain free and resting peacefully now. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Condolence from Sylvia Reid on April 13th, 2019 3:40 pm

Dear Frank, Lisa and Sheri,
We are so sorry to hear about Carol’s passing. She was such a beautiful person, inside and out, and you will miss her dearly!

This has been such a difficult year for all of you. I am sure it will take awhile for all of this to sink in.

Our Recorder group shared so many happy times together with Carol. She was so very proud of each of you and also her beautiful grandchildren. In her quiet way, she often talked about each of you all with such pride and joy.

Our wish for you is that, as your sorrows become less sharp, you will gradually remember more of the happier moments that you shared together.

Heaven has definitely gained another angel!

Sylvia and Keith

Condolence from Carol Peterson and Dan McArthur on April 14th, 2019 4:19 pm

The world has lost one of its kindest souls. She was an exceptionally good friend for most of our lives. We are so sorry that we could not attend the memorial for Carol yesterday. She knew how much we love her. We told her loudly and often. There must be thousands of examples of Carol Walton kindnesses. One of her kindnesses to us was when she introduced Dan, her friend since Grade 7 in 1955, and Carol since nurse’s training in 1962. We were in our early fifties. Dan had lost his first wife to cancer and Carol had raised two children on her own. That was 23 years ago. Our happiness is a direct result of a Carol Walton kindness, and her reputation as an amazing human being. If she said: “You two should get to know one another” you did, because she was almost certain to be right. We all have kind thoughts of what we can do for others and we do not always act on them. Carol frequently did. We know that she touched many lives with her generous spirit. In conversations with Carol over the years, she talked about how proud she was of her daughters and her beloved grandchildren. She was a wonderful knitter and quilt maker. We know that there are many Carol Walton baby quilts out there in Manitoba.
We cannot imagine the size of the hole Carol’s passing leaves in Frank’s and the family’s life, nor the grief the last year and a half have wrought. Our sincerest condolences to all of you, at this very difficult time.
Carol Peterson and Dan McArthur

Condolence from Patty and Doug Drew on May 6th, 2019 5:06 pm

Frank, Lisa and Sheri: Your family has our heartfelt sympathy. There is truly a hole in Pinawa’s heart. We miss her smiling face and kind, gentle personality. We miss the many chats in the playground about life in general and always about our children, grandchildren, dogs and Carol’s latest projects. Shelby has lost one of her favourite pitchers as Carol never went by without throwing the ball for her. Especially now when the weather is warmer, it just doesn’t seem right that she is not passing by. It is so very sad to lose such a sweet, sweet lady.
