David Kenneth Dillabough

Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On February 4, 2022 @ 1:38 pm In Obituaries | 25 Comments

With his family by his side, it is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David Kenneth Dillabough, on February 1st, 2022.

After 2 years battling his illness, Dave was tired and asked Jesus to take him home. Our hearts break as we don’t have him here anymore, but we have comfort in knowing he’s rejoicing with renewed strength and happiness now, and that mends our broken hearts.

Dave leaves behind his beloved wife Brenda, the love of his life for 34 years; their 3 daughters Kaylee, Lexi, and Deena (Jonah); his son Darren (Sue); his daughters Jody, Gaille, and Jeanette; Grandkids Jessica, Keith, Ross (Ty), Gage, Shae, Genna, and Connie; brother George (Gerri); great grandchildren Lexton, and Rowan; and fur babies Peaches, Bobby, and Tammy.

Dave was born and grew up in Selkirk. During his life time, he went down many paths to find his career and then found his passion with the Boilermakers. He was a member of the Boilermakers Local 555 from 1969-2022, which he made many lifetime friendships, and many became like family. His most special boilermaker was his “boiler baby” son Darren; his best friend, who he had an amazing bond with.

After his retirement his days were filled with living the lake life. Building a little cabin for his girls (the Chalet), was his greatest happiness. Seeing everyone’s excitement was all he wanted. Making decks, docks, a diving tower, and sheds just to name a few. If you gave Dave wood or metal, he would make something out of it! He was happiest when he had a project on the go. Then when it was time for a break, he would relax on the beach.

Dave was the most selfless man when it came to his family.  Whatever anyone wanted or needed he was on it! Dave was a great teacher in many ways with knowledge of absolutely anything. We all have learned so very much from this great man. All his wisdom and teachings of life was with pure intentions with love. He will be missed immensely and loved forever and will never be forgotten!

Until we meet again Dave. We Love you. See you soon!

Since Dave was a huge lover of animals, donations can be made to Darcy’s Animal Rescue Centre, B-730 Century Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1 or Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue Inc., P.O. Box 34040, 7 Killarney Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5T5.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will be at a later date.

I’m very sorry for your loss. I have to say Dave was like another Dad to me when on the tools. He looked out for me, stood up for me and give me credit when deserved. When Dave was around he made life on the tools fun. When I was in the Boilermaker Hall, he treated me with respect, even though i was the one that looked up to and respected him. He will always be in my thoughts. Thanks for helping me succeed in life Dave!
