We the family of Dorothy Margaret Sackvie are sad to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend the afternoon of Saturday, February 12, 2022 at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, MB.

She will be missed and fondly remembered by her daughter Carol Vogen (Wayne) of Beausejour, son Kenneth Sackvie (Pauline) of Beausejour and Beverley Jolicoeur of Selkirk, her grandchildren Donna Baker (Steve), Kim Baker (Bob), Candace Pescitelli (Scott), Linda Huth (Cory), Jaryd  and Mathew Sackvie (friend Ali), Darien and Richard Jolicoeur, great grandchildren Kyle Baker (Megean), Kole Baker (friend Chelsea), Mitchel and Sam Baker, Renee and Dominic Pescitelli, Brynlee and Rooke Huth and one great great grandchild Jaxon Baker.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Roy, parents Wilhelm and Alvina Selch, sisters Elizabeth Martin and Evangeline Okolita, brothers in-law Fred Martin, Martin Okolita and Dan Rosentreter.  She is survived by her sister Lillian Rosentreter.

Dorothy was born and raised in Green Bay, MB.  On November 25, 1952 she married Roy Sackvie and they spent 48 wonderful years together until Roy’s passing in 1999.

She was a homemaker, took in borders and later she babysat starting in 1963 into the mid 1980’s.  Her and Roy enjoyed as much time as they could at their cabin in Nutimik Lake.  Dorothy enjoyed fishing, card playing, working on jigsaw puzzles, knitting, crocheting among other crafts, and tending her garden and flowers.

But most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

Rest Easy Mom, you’ve earned it with how hard you work here on earth.  Although we are sad, we also rejoice and take comfort in knowing you are free from earthly sufferings.  We love you, say hi to Dad!

Many thanks to Helen and all the staff at East Gate Lodge for all the care and compassion they showed our mother.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.  Due to Covid Restrictions, the service will be limited to invited family only.  Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Green Bay Cemetery.

Although we will all miss your Mom, we will have many wonderful memories to bring us comfort.
My favorite memory is going snowmobiling at Nutmak. In slow motion her machine tipped, she rolled off and kept rolling to the bottom of the little hill. She came up laughing and said the only thing hurt was her dignity .
Lots of love. Take care Bev.

Thank you and yes precious memories of Mom are making the sadness of losing her just a bit easier to bear. Granted I am happy she is at peace and no more earthly suffering but I’m still very sad that she is gone,,,

Dorothy and Roy were the first memories I have of my parents friends at Nutimik Lake and that friendship was lifelong. Your mom was good friend to my parents and I will always cherish that. Their card nights were epic and later nightly phone calls to my Mom to catch up. I was blessed to marry into the family and call her Aunty. I enjoyed our quick check ins at East Gate and as a good friend would always ask about my Dad. She was a special lady and will be missed by many. She brightened many lives. Wishing her peace, condolences to all the family.

We in the Olekson family will miss visiting with Dorothy. She was a good friend to mom and my brother Jim after Dad died. She was an icon in Nutimik Lake with Your Dad, Roy. May God bless you in heaven and say hello to mom and Jim..
