1949 – 2023

It is with deep sadness we announce that our beloved Judy has gone home to be with her Saviour and Lord Christ Jesus.

After a long illness with Parkinson’s, she passed away peacefully at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

Judy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ken, children Cory (Josie), Trevor (Kirstyn), Chad (Jolene), Tanya (Jeff) and eight grandchildren. Sisters Wendy (Jim), Linda (John) and Sandy, brothers Les and David. Sisters in-law Loretta, Audrey, Pat and Rita. Brothers in-law David and Frazer. One uncle and aunt and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Judy was a very quiet, gentle and patient person, who loved Jesus and her family.  Judy was an excellent cook and she sure could bake.  Her desserts were always a family favourite.

Judy was a devoted mother and grandmother, she always treated her children’s friends like family and supported them all, attending every event that they were in.  Judy, as a mother, encouraged her children to get in involved in reading, especially her daughter.  She was a very devoted partner to Ken in all kinds of ministries; always praying and quietly encouraging everyone.  Judy loved her flowers and garden, canning and freezing her products.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank all the staff at East Gate Lodge for being so helpful and loving to Judy in her long stay there.  The family would also like to thank Pastors Ben and Neill for officiating and Peter and Walter providing the music.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Overcomers Outreach, Box 1933, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or info@overcomersoutreach.ca.

Rest in Peace our beautiful lady.

Condolences for the family of “Judy Sundelin”

Condolence from Karen Johnson on May 2nd, 2023 12:12 am

I loved Judy. She was my sister in law, married to my youngest brother Ken.
But before that Judy was my classmate and friend back in Kinistino, Saskatchewan.
She was a very quiet person but when she spoke we all listened. I will always remember Judy being the first person to speak at my mom’s funeral back in 1999. She just had to stand and declare her love for ‘Mom’. For Judy that took courage,
What I will remember the most was her love of Jesus, her hospitality, her always with her Brag Book of her grandchildren, her flowers, and yes her baking.
I feel like we lost you about two years ago but today’s sorrow is fresh. I love you Sister, Friend, and Sister in Christ.

Condolence from Trudy ( McPhee) Retzleff on May 2nd, 2023 10:56 am

Dear Ken, Cory, Trevor, Chad, Tanya and families, Linda, Wendy, Sandy, Les, David and families, and the Sundelin family
Back in Kinistino Doug and I had cousins at school, no first cousins but I guess you’d say third cousins. Judy and her family were afew of them.
Judy was very shy and quiet at school but very dependable!
Because of distance we sometimes lose touch but do think of each other especially at family gatherings and reunions. Unfortunately many family gatherings of late, have been saying goodbye to loved ones.
I cared for several people who had Parkinson’s and it is a heart wrenching, frustrating for the client disease. As a family, some of your grieving has already been done because you have lost parts of your loved one along the way. Down the road, when you can put the disease behind you, you may grieve again for that wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister you have lost, Judy.
I’m pretty sure Uncle Roy and Aunt Marjorie, Gordon and June were there to welcome Judy to a better place.
Love and hugs to all. Trudy, Daryl and family, Doug, Judy and family

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing one of the Ethelton school kids makes me sad…..I remember all grades and ages playing ball together. ….those days on the bus were the best of times.
Judy was such a quietly lovely presence and all you Groats will miss her always.
