1932 ~ 2013

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Richter on November 5, 2009.

She will never be forgotten and is forever loved by her children-son Alan (Diane) Richter, daughter Debra (Duane) Strecker and daughter Lori (Ron) Peluk; grandchildren-Lana and Vanessa Richter, Hayley Lavallee (Jeramie) and Julia Strecker, and Evan (Krystle), Ryan (Courtney) and Travis Peluk; and great-grandchildren-Cruz Lavallee and Hayden Peluk.

Mom is also survived by her sisters-Elsie Hankins, Olga Buss, Arlene Richter, Irene Spence and Cecelia Latham; her brothers-Ken and Mickey Trapp; as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom was a very beautiful, loving woman who was very devoted to her family. She always thought about her family first and foremost, taking excellent care of her husband, children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She was definitely the backbone of our family and always did her best… and her best was amazing. She was a devoted Christian who instilled her faith in God and shared her beliefs with her children and grandchildren.

Mom was a very hard working woman who had a smile that could light up a room. Not only did she work full time but you could always count on Mom. She never said “no” and did whatever she could whenever she could to help, whether you asked for it or not. We often wondered how she could juggle it all so well.

She was an excellent cook, seamstress and gardener. Mom truly had a green thumb. She had beautiful garden roses, which were always her favourite, and many other gorgeous flower beds that were admired by many. She loved people and had a kind word to say about everyone she met.

As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26 at Zion Lutheran Church, 403 1st Street N., Beausejour, MB.

We would like to thank the staff at East Gate for their support and loving care during Mom’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom’s memory to the Breast Cancer Foundation and Alzheimer’s Society.

We will miss her always.
May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear about Auntie Lydia. She was a special person. I have many good memories at your parents house. Just a hop skip and jump from Mimi’s house. Your Mom always had treats for us. I remember her working in her roses. She always said. “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.” Your Mom was the rose. Our thoughts and prayers are being sent your way. We lost another angel. Love to you all.

Love, Nancy, Bruce, Chad & Mark Melan
