Carol Dorothy
Wiese (née Bachman)
Dec 26, 1945 — Aug 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol, our beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt. Carol passed away at home, surrounded by love, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 80.
She leaves behind to mourn her husband of 45 years, David; her daughter Nancy (Derek Sobetski); and her siblings Marian Juenke, Judy Poitras (Art), Ken Bachman (Terri), and Floyd (Noreen), as well as numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors.
Carol was predeceased by her father, Adolph Bachman; her mother, Dorothy Bachman (Milbrandt); her sisters Elaine Bachman, Geraldine Herda, and Doreen Romanishen; and her sister Ruth, at infancy.
Carol was born and raised in Green Bay, Manitoba. After joining the workforce, she began her career at the Beausejour Sewing Factory. When the factory closed, she went on to work as a gas attendant at Beausejour Price-Rite, before leaving to dedicate herself fully to life as a homemaker and farmer in Lydiatt, Manitoba with her husband Dave.
Carol led a hard life working the farm, but a deeply rewarding one, rich with the fruits of her labor. From tending her gardens and greenhouse, to selling and canning vegetables, to caring for her beautiful flowers, Carol was one of the hardest workers you would ever meet.
Alongside her strong work ethic, Carol had an equally strong personality. She never shied away from telling it like it is or putting you in your place when you needed it. But if you were fortunate enough to get past her rough exterior, you were privileged indeed — she didn't open up too many, but if you were in her good graces, she loved you unconditionally and protected you fiercely.
Carol was also known for her tremendous culinary skill. She excelled at baking, especially her special Christmas cookies and desserts, and was equally gifted at making pierogies — a talent she turned into a small side business of her own.
Above all, Carol was a fighter and a survivor. She fought until the very end, with David by her side holding her hand until God called her home.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Carol through her cancer journey — the doctors and medical team at CancerCare, including Dr. Visser and Dr. Stephanie, and all who cared for her.
