Obituary

September 1, 1943 – March 16, 2026

Clifford Alfred Sachvie—beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend—passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital with family by his side. He will be loving remembered by his wife of 56 years, Doreen; his daughters Tracy (Kurt) Weber and Alison Sachvie (Scott Kopansky); and his grandchildren, Sadie and Max Kopansky. Cliff is also survived by his sisters Audrey (Ed) Serfas and Gladys (Fred) Nock; his brother Ron Sachvie; sisters‑in‑law Sharon Sachvie and Gloria (Sam) Mckoluff; brother‑in‑law Ron (Alma) Loeb; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Alma; his brothers Gordon and Norbert; and his son Gregory. Cliff was 82 years old.

Cliff grew up on the family farm in Green Bay, Manitoba, attending school in both Green Bay and Beausejour. He later continued his education at Red River College and earned his CGA designation while working full‑time and raising his family. Cliff retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service with Revenue Canada.

Cliff met his wife, Doreen, at a social in Beausejour in 1967. After driving her home that evening, the two quickly became inseparable and were married two years later. Their marriage was a partnership—steady, joyful, and committed.

In his younger years, Cliff enjoyed playing hockey and baseball when he wasn’t helping on the farm. Even after moving to the city, he returned home most weekends to work alongside his siblings and their families. Countless hours were spent around the kitchen table discussing every detail of farm life. Winter brought him back just as often, where he enjoyed snowmobiling and bonfires with siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Cliff enjoyed travelling. Whether exploring destinations like New York, Cleveland, and Toronto, or escaping the winters in Arizona, Hawaii, and Mexico or visiting places closer to home like Grand Forks or the cabin at Grindstone, it was always the people—not the location—that he enjoyed the most.

One of the greatest joys of his life was becoming a grandfather. Sadie and Max brought him pride, laughter, and love.

Cliff never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was sincere in wanting to know what you were doing and what you were thinking. He could always be counted on for a joke and a bit of teasing. His kindness, wisdom, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. A livestream will be available https://www.youtube.com/@peacelutheranchurch-winnip9502
