Dorothy Anne
Ault
January 23, 1935 – June 13, 2026
It is with sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Dorothy Anne Ault.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Janet (Blair) Wark and their children, Kenneth (Kayla) and Alex (Chelsea); Ryan (Tammy) Ault and their children Geoffrey, Rylee and Joely; Kevin (Kerri) Ault and their children Jaelyn (Colin) Dooley; Fred; Douglas (Kathy) Ault; Susan Baker and her son Sweyn Block as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents William and Ella Currie, and her husband David Ault.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Dorothy enjoyed a happy childhood and spent some of her early years working as a lifeguard at Bowmanville Beach. It was there that her love of people, community, and the outdoors began to shine. She later met the love of her life, David, and together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Dorothy and David built a life centered on family, raising four children: Fred, Susan, Douglas, and Janet. Their journey took them from Orangeville, Ontario, to Winnipegosis, Manitoba, before they eventually settled on an acreage outside Dauphin, where they created a home filled with love, hard work, and countless memories.
While David worked in his woodworking shop, Dorothy dedicated herself to raising their family, caring for their home, and supporting every aspect of their busy lives. In the early 1980s, their family grew when they welcomed grandchildren Ryan and Kevin into their home and hearts, later adopting and raising them as their own. From baseball games and Cub Scout meetings to family outings and road trips, Dorothy was the steady force who kept everything running smoothly.
Over the years, many cherished trips were made back to Toronto to visit Grandma and Grandpa Currie and to spend time with David’s family. Those visits helped maintain the close family bonds that meant so much to her throughout her life.
After David’s passing, Dorothy continued to live independently in Dauphin, where she remained active in her church community and enjoyed the companionship of many dear friends. She took pride in maintaining her home, and when it eventually became too much to manage, she moved to the manor down the street, where she continued to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
Among those pleasures, none ranked higher than ice cream. Whether it was a stop at the Dairy Dip or later a visit to Dairy Queen in Dauphin, Dorothy never passed up the opportunity for a scoop of her favorite treat.
In her final chapter, Dorothy relocated to the Beausejour area to be closer to family and receive the care she needed. She continued to bring smiles to those around her with her sense of humor, her signature fancy “as seen on TV” sunglasses worn over her prescription glasses, and her ever-present hat to keep out of the sun.
Dorothy also had an adventurous side. She loved riding on the back of a Harley motorcycle, and after every ride her smile would linger long after the journey ended.
More than anything, she treasured her family. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her face would light up whenever they walked through the door. Kenneth and Alex Wark cherished their visits with their grandma and the many side-by-side rides they shared together. Geoffrey, Rylee, and Joely Ault loved spending time with her, whether watching movies, visiting, or sharing stories about their lives. Jaelyn Dooley will fondly remember the laughter, joy and special moments they shared with her as well. The memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave will remain with us always.
Though we will miss her deeply, we find comfort knowing she has moved on to a better place and has been reunited with those who went before her.
She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and who will forever cherish the countless memories she helped create.
The family wants to thank the residents and staff at Loray Manor in Dauphin for caring for mom, allowing her to be independent in the early stages of her illness. We would also like to thank the amazing staff at East Gate for caring for mom in her final years, ensuring that she was looked after, from her hair to her outfits; you looked after her with dignity and respect.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 404 First Street SW, Dauphin with a private family interment to follow.
Mom, your love, strength, and gentle presence will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace.
