IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Irene
Bisko (nee Krebs)
May 11, 1939 – February 25, 2026
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Bisko, on February 25, 2026, at the Selkirk General Hospital.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband Gary of 60 years; her children Chad (Mel) and Kristy; her grandson Brayden; her brothers Harold (Shirley) and Wally (Lillian), as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her infant daughter Darcie; her parents, William and Martha Krebs; her brother Rudy; and her sisters Margaret and Ruth.
Dorothy was born and attended school in Cloverleaf before proudly entering the banking community. She worked at the Royal Bank in Winnipeg, and later at RBC and the Bank of Montreal in Beausejour, Manitoba. After marrying the love of her life, Gary Bisko, on June 19, 1965, she eventually made the decision to step away from her banking career to focus on raising her family and being a full-time mom — a role she cherished above all else. She retired from banking over 25 years ago so she could be there for her family even more.
Dorothy was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She could deliver a perfectly timed comment that left everyone laughing. She was also very stubborn — in the very best way — especially when it came to standing up for her family or doing things her way. Her strength, loyalty, and determination defined her.
Family was her priority, always putting herself second - she deeply loved and supported all her family. After raising her own children, Dorothy lovingly embraced motherhood once again as she raised her grandson, Brayden, playing a profound and guiding role in his life. In every way that truly mattered, she became his mom.
Dorothy found great joy in arts and crafts — painting, baking, cooking, knitting, flower arranging, and crafting of all kinds. Home was filled with her creations and the warmth that she created. She also had a deep love for pets, treating each one as part of the family.
She was the #1 fan of her children and grandson, proudly supporting their activities in hockey, ringette, figure skating, baseball, and soccer. Whether in the stands or at home quietly cheering them on, her presence was constant and unwavering.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the paramedics and the staff at Selkirk Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Dorothy.
A private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
