Edouard (Ed)
Veronneau
March 11, 1942 – May 22, 2026
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Rev. Edouard Veronneau, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and brother in- law, on May 22, 2026 at the age of 84 with close family members by his side.
He leaves behind his wife Linda of 54 years, daughter Rachel, son Robert (Daphne), son Edourd Jr., grandchildren Monique, Chardonnay, Jazzmyn, Trystan, Rebekah, and Hunter, and great grandchildren Zola and Zayda.
Edouard also leaves behind his brother John (Maria), sisters Doris (Jim), and Terri, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, brother in-law Carl, friends and church family. Ed was predeceased by his parents Honore, and Matilda, in-laws John and Dorothy.
First and foremost, Ed will be remembered for his unwavering love for the Lord. He accepted the Lord into his life while still in his 20’s while serving time at Stony Mountain Pen., hence ministering to inmates at Milner Ridge Correctional and Stoney Mountain Pen. after his retirement which brought him great joy.
Ed was born in Steinbach on March 11, 1942, lived in La Broquerie, Pine Falls, finally settling down on a Riverland farm outside Lac du Bonnet.
Ed worked for various farmers in the area, until he got his first full time job in Werner Lake, Ontario in 1967.
Ed met the love of his life Linda in 1970 and they married July 31st,1971. Werner Lake Mines shut down in May of 1976, forcing the family to move and settle down on the farm in Riverland. After briefly working in Thompson, Ed was hired on at Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) in Pinawa, until his retirement in 1999.
Ed was a scatter bug of sorts. He taught his 3 children how to play guitar. In fact, he played many instruments most evenings around the dining room table like, piano accordion, button accordion, harmonica and fiddle, clearing trails on the farm, cutting wood, working in his vegetable gardens, and family weiner roasts.
Oh, and of course the Grizwald family excursions every summer, many, many of which included 3 large children crammed into the back seat of a 68 Oldsmobile 455 rocket while we, I mean he, searched for ancestors amongst cemeteries throughout the country, because of course, Ed was also a genealogist, avid reader and poetry writer.
Also in his spare time, after time spent with grandchildren, he would research family trees as a consultant for the local MMF Society, helping others attain their Métis status cards. He also engaged himself within other local-organizations like, southeastern Manitoba Labour Council, LDB Housing Board, Manitoba Historical Society, and played an instrumental part in getting a clinic established in Lac du Bonnet.
A special heartwarming thanks to the Pinawa Hospital staff and to the LDB Personal Care Home staff for their exceptional care and compassion during Ed’s final days at the care home; to Pastor James Schwab for visiting Ed, sharing scripture and prayers. Last but not least, nephew Shane and his daughter Hope along with ex brother-in-law Dale, being drawn to join the immediate family at his bedside during Ed’s final hours here on earth.
The family is planning a private celebration of life July 31st, which would have been their 55th wedding anniversary.
