Jim (James) Richard
Erickson
August 22, 1952 – May 14, 2026
Jim (James) Erickson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim (James) Erickson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, and unwavering support for those he loved most.
Jim was predeceased by his mother and father. He is lovingly survived by his brothers, John and Robbie; along with their families and many nephews and nieces and cousins, his beloved wife, Beth (Elizabeth), his daughters, Jenny and Jan; his cherished grandchildren, Shane, Meaghen, Lorie, Nicole, Sabrina, and Chris; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Rowan and Daphne, Emmett, Nash and Oliver, his proud namesake.
Though not a father by blood, Jim stepped into that role with unmatched love, strength, and dedication. To his family, he was simply everything. He was his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, rarely missing a sporting event and always eager to share stories from his younger years and his many athletic achievements. His storytelling, humour, and larger-than-life personality made every gathering memorable.
Jim spent many years building meaningful friendships throughout his career as a driver with Winnipeg Transit and the Seine River School Division. Even in retirement, he continued driving long-haul trips for a smaller company, something he genuinely enjoyed because of the people he met along the way.
Outside of work, Jim found his greatest joy in the simple moments spent with family. He loved camping and made countless cherished memories at Falcon Lake, a place that became special to so many because of the time shared there together. Whether sitting around the campfire, enjoying the outdoors, or simply being surrounded by family, those moments brought him immense happiness. He also loved golfing and looked forward to every opportunity to get out on the course, enjoying both the game and the company that came with it.
Known for his bright smile, endless kindness, and famous pails of trail mix, crepes and pepper cockers, Jim also had an undeniable sweet tooth. His great-grandsons, Nash and Oliver, will forever remember him arriving with pockets and bags full of sweet treats, always ready to make them smile.
Jim was truly one of a kind — the kind of man who would do absolutely anything for his family and friends. His love, stories, encouragement, and presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
