It is with heavy heart that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Marife on Friday July 17, 2026, at Selkirk Hospital at the age of 72.

Marife is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Rodney; sister’s Vangie, Merly and Sarah; brother’s; Claro and Joseph, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Marife was very strong and had a great work ethic. At the age of 16 her parents passed on and she took on the role of caregiver to all her younger siblings so that they all stayed together until they reached adulthood making sure they all achieved a good education.

Marife immigrated to Canada in 1980 from the Philippines to help her family back home. She first worked as a nanny and had a way with the children she cared for by treating them as if they were her own. These children also treated her as if she was like family when calling her momma at times as they too loved her so much. She later became a health care aide helping the elderly at East Gate Lodge PCH putting the needs of her patients before her own.

In 2001, Marife met the love of her life Rodney. They got married seven years later in 2008 at Niagara Falls. Marife taught Rodney many important life respects which he will forever value.

Marife was also a top 10 Black Belt in Karate in Canada and was an instructor as well.

Marifes main love was dancing, never wanting to leave the dance floor. She enjoyed it so much that she even taught Rodney how to tango, as well as many other dance moves. She taught everyone who wanted to learn to dance.

She also loved to travel the world with Rodney visiting places like Canada from coast to coast, Caribbean, South America, Europe, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Alaska, Yukon, Ireland, Italy, England, most of the USA, (to name just a few) Panama, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Hawaii, and many trips back home to the Philippines. It was her dream to travel the whole world, and she came very close to achieving her dream.

We will truly miss Marife and remember her for the special respected woman she was.
