May 8, 1946 ~ August 7, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sharon Seev (nee Service).  Sharon passed away peacefully in her home on August 7, 2021 at the age of 75.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Michelle (Nathan), her son Kevin (Kristy), her two grandchildren Kasey and Kalin, and her three nephews with a special place in her heart for Rick and his wife Kelly.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents Reverend George and Jean Service, her sister Sandra, and dogs Brie, Sarge, Heidi and Taffy.

Sharon’s fondest memories are the times spent on Coney Island in Kenora, Ontario.  Here is where she had a family cottage which she referred to as her “Family Camp”. Sharon spent her summers here and made lifelong friends she has to this day.

Sharon was known for her cooking and being an extraordinary baker.  She was described by many as the kindest person they had ever met.  She always kept a positive mindset, was fiercely independent, and was always ready to laugh.  Sharon enjoyed reading many books in her spare time, her favourite ice cream was Tiger Tiger, and LOVED the song “Mony Mony” by Tommy James & The Shondells.  It always made her crank up the volume loud and dance!

As per Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  At a later date, Sharon’s ashes will be spread at a special place of her choosing on Coney Island.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Augustine United Church, where her father was a minister. Cheques can be sent to 444 River Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0C7 or by etransfer to augustine.uc@mymts.net.  Please attach the note, “In memory of Sharon Mae Elizabeth Seev” with your donation.

Michelle, Kevin and families: What a lovely write up. Your mom was all those things and more. 72 years of her friendship has truly enriched my life. We shared many laughs reminiscing about our time growing up together on Coney Island. I loved her then and will forever. I am sad to say good-bye. My thoughts are with you all at this time. Treasure your memories. She’ll be with you always. Much Love. Jan

It is such a sobering fact that our dear Sharon is gone. The lovely obituary really paints an accurate picture of her. I especially love the addition of the dogs and her favourite song.. My particular memories of cousin Sharon are all the happy birthday parties, and when she took me for rides in her little green convertible when I was a kid, often to Dairy Queen to get an ice cream cone or a banana split. We would laugh a lot! And, of course, working with our beloved bouviers. We had a little dutch style dog cart that Sharon would lead up and down the country roads with us happily riding on the raised seat.. Sharon, we love you, will dearly miss you, and we hope you are in a happy place. ♥️

We will be missing our long time Coney Island friend.
As a tribute to Sharon we will continue to light an ice candle at Christmas at the Kenora cemetery.

Condolence from Sharon Stevens on August 21st, 2021 5:29 pm

Michelle, Kevin and their families , I share your sorrow. I loved your Mother too. Sharon is my best friend. Along time ago, Sharon and I were sitting on a red velvet cushion, holding hands giggling, and also supposed to be listening to her dad preach. After church we headed over to Sharon’s for lunch that Maizie (grandmother) had made. This was about 73 years ago.
I remember once at Coney, we must have been 7 or 8, we decided to go fishing . We scouted around, found some sticks and then looked for some string. Next morning we got up about 6 am, and dug up some worms and off we went to the lake. After sitting there for quite awhile and no fish, we were really hungry so we headed back to camp for breakfast. Each holiday, we would look forward to a huge dinner Sharon had cooked. Her apple pie was delicious, as was everything else. The dressing Sharon made for her Cesar salad was the best. We will all miss Sharon, she is good, and she is kind. Now, she could be listening to Engelberg Humperdinck and could dancing to Mony, Mony.
I am blessed to call her my friend.

Our condolences to Michelle and Kevin, extended family and friends. We did not know your mother for long but the times we had together were filled with laughter and long conversations that always gravitated towards talk about Kenora and her happy memories from there. She was so happy to see you both married and in your own homes. Your write up gives us a good picture of who she was before we knew her. One thing shared by us or rather me is our love of the eggplant parmigiana at the Olive Garden. We had a some yummy suppers over the few years we knew her. Michelle we are both glad you reached out to us for assistance and we are proud of how you handled all the details during this very difficult time. Just know we are here for you anytime. Keep the good memories alive until you see her again. Love R & R
