1955 ~ 2018

We are very saddened to announce the sudden passing of our wife, mom, sister and friend after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 while surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband Leon, children Neil Merry (Mika), Danielle Merry (Kevin), stepdaughters Kristen Dionne (Tim) and Andrea Rempel (Jeff), grandson Dylan, sister Cindy Cove (Don), brother Curtis Cove and niece Quinn as well as many friends.  She was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Geraldine Cove, and stepson Rene Dionne.

Suzanne was born and raised in East Kildonan, Winnipeg, before moving to Beausejour where she remained.  She worked for many years as a Lab Technologist in various locations.  Her passions were her family, friends, pets (especially her bunnies), rug hooking on Tuesdays, petit point, and many other crafts.  She loved to sit outside on her deck in Beausejour in the summer and read.  Suzanne loved to travel with her husband Leon especially cruising!

The family would like to thank Dr. Nick, the staff at Beausejour Hospital and Dr. Maksymiuk at CancerCare for their support and care.

Celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.  Coffee and dainties to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Suzanne’s memory may be made to Winnipeg Humane Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolence from Erika Uustalu Nicholson on October 18th, 2018 10:28 pm

Dear Leon and Family,
I met Suzanne through our regular rug hooking gatherings in Beausejour. Rugs are hooked at these meetings but more importantly, bonds of friendship develop as we share our life stories, philosophies and concerns. Suzanne shared with us her wry sense of humour, her travel and foodie adventures and her love of furry creatures. A special memory for me was when Suzanne invited me to her home to pick out a special gift for my then one year old grandson Herbie. Her home is filled with her creative talents. I chose an adorable knitted penguin that she had made and Herbie took an immediate like to it. It’s name is Mortimer.
I’m happy that Suzanne was able to enjoy a few years of retirement with Leon and her family but very sad that she has left us so soon. Rest In Peace dear Suzanne.
With deepest sympathy – Erika Uustalu-Nicholson

Suzanne has a beautiful soul, that I am sure is entertaining the angels right now….. I remember her sense of humor and caring ways. She was such fun to work with at Bethesda in Steinbach. Please find comfort in the days to come as you deal with missing your beautiful wife, mother, grandma and friend. Suzanne you will be remembered and missed by many…

Condolence from Robert & Marie Mile on October 23rd, 2018 9:32 pm

We wanted to share our condolences with Suzanne’s family. It is never easy to have to say goodbye to a loved one. The pain of loss can be unbearable. Our Creator promises us that one day this pain will be just a memory. That beautiful promise can be found at Revelation 21:3,4. Our pain and suffering will be a thing of the past, and we can cry tears of joy as we welcome back the ones that we love so much. We hope you find comfort in those promises.

Leon
Today I lost another good friend. I then thought of you and the incredible pain you must feel. I can not know it inside. I have the greatest respect for the sacrifice and courage you recently displayed on your “Ride”. I believe your strength will bring you through the pain of this sudden and tragic loss. Although I never really knew her my respect for you goes back a long way. If you some day want some company please call and come by for a coffee.
