Ernest L. Sampson

March 28, 1938 — March 28, 2015

1938 ~ 2015

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest L. Sampson. Sadly, but peacefully, at Pinawa hospital, Ernie lost his battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his parents Eino and Margaret Sampson (nee Larson), brother Arvid and sister Evelyne. He is survived by his sister Arlene Wasney (Gary); his sons Darren, Troy and Clinton; grandchildren Brennan (Darren and Alice), Krista, Dustin (Haley) and Jordon (Clinton and Tina).

Ernie was born in Pine Falls and grew up in Lac du Bonnet. He attended Newcombe School not far from the Sampson homestead. In 1962, he married Shirley Tyrrell and they had three children and eventually settled down by the Winnipeg River on Provincial Road 502. They divorced in 1983 at which time Ernie moved to his final home, “The Rock”, on the east side of the Winnipeg River not far from his original homestead.  Ernie worked as a heavy equipment operator around Manitoba and the Lac du Bonnet region until his retirement.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pinawa hospital for all their care and support through this difficult time.

Funeral service will be held at the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre on Saturday, May 16 at 1:00pm. All may attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ernie’s name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB  R3E 0V9.

In our hearts

you will always be,

until we meet again

in all eternity.
