It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anne Schindel, at the age of 94 years, on October 31, 2025, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre with her family by her side.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 72 years, Fred, her children Bonnie (Gordon) Rosentreter, and Rick (Maureen) Schindel. She will also be remembered with love by her grandchildren Angel Rosentreter, Robyn (Darren) Pritchard, Daniel and Adam Schindel and her Great Grandchildren Kierra Rosentreter, Brooklyn and Evan Pritchard as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom will also be missed by her long time friends, Adele Sachvie and Doreen Wiebe. Mom was predeceased by her parents Julius and Hulda (Pfaiffer) Schiefelbein, all of her siblings Carl (Ida), Elsie Nagy, Alex (Irene) Miller, and Bertha. Her in-laws August and Olga (Reske) Schindel, Adolf (Minnie), William (Margaret), Pauline (Roy) Merke, and Rudolf (Lora).
Mom was born May 13, 1931 in Green Bay where she attended the Green Bay school until she went to live with her Uncle John and Aunt Rose Pfaiffer in St. Boniface where she continued her education. Mom worked at Canada Packers until Fred, the love of her life, drew her back to Green Bay.
Mom and Dad were married on July 4, 1953. Dad and Mom took over the family farm in April 1958. Since Dad often worked off the farm, Mom took over some of the field work, the dairy (which she ran for 10 years) and the yard work. Mom and Oma (Dad’s Mom) worked side by side in the gardens, the yard, the chores and the cooking. As Mom lost her Mom in 1965, Mom and Oma became more than in laws, they became best friends.
One of Mom’s greatest loves was the church life at St. Paul’s Green Bay. She lovingly planted flowers each year and was active in each and every activity over the years. Her faith kept her going strong through the trials of life. She never wavered and instilled in her family the love and promises of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank the wonderful home care workers, staff at East Gate Lodge and the doctors and emergency nurses at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for their kind and compassionate care.
