Bernice Elizabeth Bukoski

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Bernice Elizabeth Bukoski, at the wonderful age of 100.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Anna Haier, sister Violet Neudzak, brother Eddie Haier and sister Mildred Burek.

Bernice will be lovingly missed by her son Darryl (Patricia), daughter Sharon, grandchildren Pamela (Ty), Mark (Cara) and great-grandchildren Anna, Amber, Adaline, Levi and Freyja. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews. All will miss her stories from bygone days and making sure we were well fed at every visit.

Bernice was born April 21, 1926 in Winnipeg Manitoba. She spent her early years in Hazelridge and after marrying, her husband Frank, moved to his family farm. In 1966 the family home was lost to fire. A new home was built closer to Beausejour, where Bernice resided for 65 years. An accidental fall last October ultimately resulted in a move to East Gate Lodge in February 2026.

Bernice loved gardening, travelling, shopping and watching The Price is Right. She was an avid Winnipeg Jets Fan. Above all she loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone who had time to listen to her countless stories of which there were numerous.

Bernice’s passion and calling was cooking. During her 50 year career working at Beausejour Health Centre, Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Pinawa Hospital and East Gate Lodge, she would have prepared thousand of meals. She finally retired at the age of 85.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Beausejour Health Centre, Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Pinawa Hospital and East Gate Lodge for their compassionate care.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Beausejour on Saturday October 24, 2026 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to East Gate Lodge, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Beausejour or a charity of your choice.
