Betty Durocher

March 28, 1934 — March 28, 2021

1934 ~ 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother better known as “Granny”.

Betty was born on July 25, 1934 and grew up in Seven Sister Falls, MB.  This is where she met and married her love Gabe Durocher.  They moved to White Mud Falls before settling in Great Falls, MB where they raised their 2 sons Guy and Bob.  After Gabe’s passing, Betty remarried Alvin Stark and spent many years enjoying their beautiful home in Poplar Bay.  After Alvin’s passing in 2013, Betty relocated to Park Manor in Lac du Bonnet where she enjoyed her view of the lake and her condo friends.

Family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important part of her life.  She loved watching them play hockey and baseball and spent time teaching them to crochet and bake.

Betty enjoyed gardening and spent a lot of time in her flower beds and vegetable garden.  She looked forward to blueberry and strawberry picking every year.  She would make homemade pies, all sorts of treats and care packages to give to her family and friends.

Betty also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles and bowling.  She enjoyed her time working at Dancyt’s Foods in Lac du Bonnet for 12 years where she loved the interaction with customers.  She spent a lot of time volunteering in the Great Falls and the Lac du Bonnet communities where her witty sense of humour will be missed.

Betty is predeceased by her parents Edward and Emelia Kretschmer, her husband Gabriel Durocher, her son Guy Durocher, husband Alvin Stark, brothers Walter and George Kretchmer and sister-in-law Florence.

Betty leaves behind her son Bob Durocher (Brigitte), grandchildren Michel (Lauren), Melissa (Remy), Kristin (Jay), Remi and Raymond and great-grandchildren Alex, Mya, James, Jackson, Payton, Taylor and Remi.  She will be missed by sister-in-law Esther Kretchmer and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Sunnywood Manor PCH in Pine Falls, MB for their excellent care and compassion during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Canada.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, River Hills, Manitoba.
