Constance Hazel Boyer

July 26, 1931 — December 7, 2022

July 26, 1931 ~ December 7, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Constance Hazel Boyer, who passed away on December 7, 2022, at the age of 91, at Seven Oaks Hospital with family by her side.

Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, William (Bill); her parents Henry and Agnes Petersen; her brothers Sanford, Sidney, and Sheldon Petersen; sons-in-law Andre Lafreniere and Garry Oakes and her grandson Robert Oakes.

She will be lovingly remembered by her eight children Rory (Nancy), Kathy Oakes, Bill (Linda), Dan (Donna), Craig (Tracy), Susan Best (Keith), Tim (Louise) and Janice Thevenot; her 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; her sisters-in-law Marlene and Helen Petersen; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mom was born in Tyndall, MB., the second of four children.  She grew up on the family farm in Brookfield.  In 1952, she married the love of her life, and they settled in Powersite where they started their family.  In 1961, they relocated to Great Falls where they raised their eight children.  Mom and Dad moved to Lac du Bonnet in their later years where they re-kindled and developed new friendships through various sports and activities at the Pioneer Club.  Mom and Dad moved into assisted living in 2017.

She was an amazing mother who always ensured everyone was taken care of before herself.  The most important thing to Mom was her family and spending time with each and every one of us.  She was the happiest when the entire family could all be together.   Dad would always say to mom, “and we started all this” and she would just smile.  Mom loved children and she always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mom worked endless hours everyday cooking, cleaning, and gardening but she also enjoyed curling, bowling, badminton, and golf.  We all remember, and speak often, about coming home after school to the smell of homemade bread and cinnamon buns.  We couldn’t have wished for a better Mom.

Mom developed a special relationship with her companions.  She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Katrina, Aira, and Grace who provided excellent care and friendship for the past 5 years.  It was their love and excellent care that put a smile on Mom’s face and made her happy everyday.  The family would also like to thank all the R.A.’s and Nurses at the Assisted Living Facility for their exceptional love and care they gave to our mother. Mom was a very charismatic person and will be greatly missed by everyone that had the pleasure to meet her.

We would also like to sincerely thank all the Staff on the 5th Floor, Unit 7B at Seven Oaks Hospital for their exceptional care they provided to our mother while in their care.

Cremation has taken place.  A private family funeral and interment is planned for the spring of 2023.  At that time, Mom and Dad will be reunited, as per their wishes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Parkinson’s Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
