Cynthia Ribkah Schoubye

Sep 27, 1968 — Jun 30, 2026

Cynthia Ribkah Schoubye was born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia on September 27, 1968, to parents Ateng and Ruth Uri. She was baptized and she confirmed her faith. She wed Harald Schoubye in 2009. Cynthia went to be with our Lord Jesus on June 30, 2026, in her Winnipeg home at the age of 57 years.

Cynthia was a staunch believer in Jesus Christ and loved to learn more about Him and sought ways to tell others to believe in Him and His Word.

Cynthia grew up in Bandung. When she was around 10 she became ill with a liver disease that required isolation from which she recovered. Through friends she came to assurance of salvation. She wished to study art at the university, but the university only accepted 10 percent of the applicants, so she studied French.

She was a teacher of young children and soon was principle of various primary schools. Her last assignment was to establish an International Baccalaureate school in Bandung for her church school system for which she had to hone her English skills. Enrollment was at 175 students when she left. Throughout this time she taught large Sunday School classes and helped develop spectacular children's Christian performances.

She prayed to have a missionary pastor husband which she found in Harald. She became very active in children's ministry developing VBS programs, inspiring the women and men with her life, her writings, her Bible studies, extending hospitality to all who came into her home.

Shortly after her marriage, tests showed her to have cancer for which she had surgery one year to the day of her wedding. She remarked on how she had exchanged a wedding dress for a hospital gown. She thought surgery would end her life, but the Lord kept her here. However, the fight with cancer continued.

Standing out in her life was our Lord's commitment to use Cynthia to show zeal in pursuing Jesus Christ and in making others know Him.

Cynthia was predeceased by her father Ateng.

Cynthia leaves to mourn her passing her husband Harald; her mother Ruth, her sister Esther, her brother David and wife Cherie and their son Carlisle, and her brother Michael; along with many other relatives and friends.
