After a brief and courageous battle with colon cancer, Diane Emes, at the age of 60 years, passed away peacefully with family at her side on August 2, 2024.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her mother Erna Emes, siblings Bev Emes-Macklin, Bill (Erika) Emes, Ken (Toni) Emes, Lorelei (Gerry) Harder, and Dave (Pat) Emes, her nine nephews and nieces and their respective spouse/partners, four great-nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Diane was predeceased by her father Robert Emes and her brother-in-law Ivan Macklin.
After graduating in June 1984 as a Registered Nurse, Diane began a 30-year career at the Health Sciences Center, working first in ENT Oncology and then for most her career until retirement in Hemodialysis. Diane enjoyed travelling, the theatre, symphony and ballet, the Fringe Festival and Folklorama. Diane also enjoyed playing trivia board games and Scrabble-she will be remembered as a very competitive player. Diane enjoyed singing-in past years she sang soprano with Voice West choir and Immanuel Lutheran Church choir; in recent years with the Good Neighbours Choristers and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd choir.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Avenue W., Winnipeg, MB with Reverend Harold Borchardt officiating. Interment in Millbrook Cemetery, in the R.M. of Springfield to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Winnipeg Humane Society, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of one's choice.
