Donna Anne Anderson (Nee Hamilton)

April 14, 1942 — September 2, 2023

April 14, 1942 ~ September 2, 2023

With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Donna Anderson at the Health Sciences Centre on September 2nd.  Left to mourn are her husband Marvin, son Jason (Leanne), sister-in-law Shirley Hamilton, as well as many extended family members.  She was predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Rachel Hamilton, as well as her brother Bob Hamilton.

Born in Shoal Lake Manitoba in 1942, Donna was raised and attended school in the area.  She lived in Winnipeg after marrying Marvin, where son Jason was born.  The family moved to Brandon in 1974 where she continued to raise her son.  She returned to the workforce once Jason was a teenager, spending over 15 years with Westman Cable in the accounting department.  With Jason now living in Winnipeg, and wanting a quieter place to call home, Donna and Marvin moved to Beausejour in 2003.  The last twenty years have been spent happily enjoying their new home and immersing themselves in their new local community, where Donna made many new friends and thrived.

Donna had a very artistic side that included a deep love of music.  During her retirement she enjoyed playing her keyboard and making recordings of her singing.  She also enjoyed singing at various seniors homes and venues with the Red Hat Society.  Many years were spent clogging with the local Beausejour group.  Donna’s creative side also included spending many hours on cross stitching and paper tole, pieces of which are framed and throughout her home.

Donna enjoyed numerous family trips including spending many weekends camping throughout Manitoba.  She loved spending time back where she grew up including many stays at Rossman Lake for fishing and rounds of golf with the whole family.  More recently, she and Marvin enjoyed spending countless hours battling over Scrabble and Crokinole matches.

Donna was a lovely, kind, caring and compassionate person.  Her passion was being a loving wife and mother, and she tirelessly gave everything to ensuring those around her were taken care of.  She rarely, if ever, thought of herself.

Donna’s later years brought about many health issues due to her struggle with bipolar disorder.  We would like to pass along our heartfelt thanks to all of the health care professionals who took care of Donna over the last few years, with a special thank you to Dr. Hastir in Beausejour, and Dr. Sala, Dr. Ruzhynsky, and Chantal with Mood Disorders Health Sciences Centre.

As per Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.  For those wishing to honour her memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mood Disorders at Health Sciences Centre.
