Eugene "Bud" Frederick Biddiscombe

July 9, 1944 — February 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the Biddiscombe family of Pinawa announces the passing of Eugene “Bud” Frederick Biddiscombe – beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was 81.

Bud was a Maritimer at heart, born and raised in Campbellton NB. He was one of five children of Eugene Frederick Biddiscombe (senior), a First World War veteran, and Mary Biddiscombe (née Larocque), of the Gesgapegiag First Nation. Growing up, Bud (then called “Buddy”) enjoyed the outdoors and exploring the forests and mountains around his hometown. After graduating high school in 1963, he moved to Montreal for a short time before eventually joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1964 as an Instrument (electronics) Technician. In 1967, Bud met his future wife Sharon, and the two were married in Winnipeg shortly thereafter. Bud would spend the next 17 years in the Air Force, getting posted to various locations such as Trenton Ontario, Baden-Baden West Germany, Greenwood Nova Scotia, and Cold Lake Alberta. Having had enough of the military life, Bud left the Air Force and moved the family to Pinawa in 1981 where he and Sharon would spend the rest of their lives together.

Bud was well known to many over his 45 years in Pinawa. Father of Steve (Grad 1987) and Jeff (Grad 1989), Bud became well known to many teenagers in the 80's. He worked at Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL, also known as “the plant”) for many years, first in one of the labs then doing HVAC. Outside of work, Bud enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, working on old cars and boats, and being part of the Lions Club. In his later years, Bud enjoyed going on cruises in the Caribbean and wintering in Victoria, British Columbia. Although he slowed down in his final years, Bud still enjoyed playing bridge, going to garage sales, and coffeeing with friends. Of Bud’s many experiences over his lifetime, he cherished his family most of all – especially being a grandfather.

Bud is pre-deceased by his wife Sharon (née Kilmury), and sisters Frances Anderson, Helen Feistl, and Lucy Zaugg. He is survived by his sister Marg, sons Steven and Jeffrey, and grandchildren Ciara and Devon. As per Bud’s final wishes, his ashes were spread on the Winnipeg River with a portion being spread in Boissevain where Sharon’s ashes had previously been spread.

In celebration of Bud’s life, an informal reception will be organized for later in the spring (date and location to be confirmed). All who knew Bud will be welcome to stop in and share a coffee, dainties and a memory or two. In lieu of flowers to the family, donations may be made to the Pinawa Foundation in Bud’s name.
