Gerald Norman Obie

October 29, 1959 — June 8, 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Gerald Obie on Sunday morning, June 8th, 2025, after courageously battling cancer.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 33 years Lori, son Chad (Melissa), daughter Chelsea (Kole) and the light of his life his granddaughter Finley who will all miss him dearly. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Cliff (Lindsey), Darlene (Paul), Donna (Wally), Debbie (John), and Jimmy (Debbie); his nephews and nieces (Cory, Craig, Rhonda, Kristy, Kelly, Jodi, Amy, Tyler, and Jenessa and their families) and extended in-laws and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Joyce, in-laws Gordon and Noreen, brother-in-laws Dwight and Bugsy, nephew Devon, and his little buddy Kody. He will be especially missed by his good friend Mike.

Gerald was born October 29, 1959 in Beausejour and lived his entire life there, never venturing too far from home. He had a long career operating a front-end loader at Inland Aggregates where he worked for 36+ years and made many friends before retiring in September 2022.

Gerald and Lori lived all of their married life on a hobby farm just south of town where they raised their family. He passed his love for the farm lifestyle onto Chad and Chelsea which he was so proud of and for all their accomplishments they made in their life.

He spent many hours cutting, splitting and piling wood getting ready for winter to heat his house/garage, tending to his variety of animals/chickens, and making his yard immaculate. Gerald will be remembered as the life of the party with his quick wit, uncanny impersonations and quirky dance moves.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E., Beausejour, MB.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cancer Care Manitoba in Winnipeg and Pinawa, Beausejour Hospital and the EMS staff for their compassion and care. A special thank you to family and friends, especially Mike and Kelly for being there for him. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to CancerCare Manitoba.

Rest in peace Gerald/Dad/Grandpa – you are no longer in pain.
