Gary passed away on July 17, 2025, at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 88.
He is survived by his nieces; Gail, Carolyn, Brenda, Gayle, Cheryl, Marlene, Marilyn and nephews; Garry, Eric, Brian and Ken.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Herta, Ann, Ruth, Elsie, Eric and niece Donna.
Gary was born in Beausejour, Manitoba to Ludwig and Mathilda Froehlich. He went to school in Beausejour and worked many summer jobs and loved to garden. At the young age of fifteen he worked as a labourer for Arlington Builders wheeling barrels of cement. Through out his life he worked in many different capacities and locations; Manitoba Telephone making telephone poles straight, helped in building a school in Dryden by laying steel, worked on Forest Fire supplies and for a paper company. Gary worked in northern companies like Thompson and ran a store in Gilliam. He was a very hard worker. Gary was hired on by Canadian Pacific Railway on a bet to which he worked as a rail inspector, switchman, machine operator and even sharpened blades. No job was beneath Gary. His last position was being a general foreman before retiring. His attitude was “Don’t Quit – Keep on Going”!

A funeral service will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue, Beausejour, MB on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with viewing one hour prior. Interment will follow the service in the Beausejour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary’s memory to Craig Street Cats, 487 Craig St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3C2, or a charity of your choice.
