Gertrude (Trudi) Marie Lange beloved wife of the late Herman Lange, left this life for heaven in the early morning of June 24, 2025. Trudi was born in Lydiatt Manitoba on September 18, 1932, the oldest child of Bill and Clara Meyer. She was followed by two sisters, Erika and Eleanor. Mom attended school in Lydiatt until grade 9, then completed high school in Winnipeg, travelling by train and boarding in the city during the week, coming home every weekend. She loved being outdoors and loved all animals. Mom worked for a number of years in Winnipeg and enjoyed travelling and socializing with friends.
Mom had no interest in getting married until her grandfather asked her to meet the son of friends from Alberta who was arriving by train. After several years of long-distance dating, Mom and Dad married in 1960 and took over the family farm in Lydiatt, eventually moving to Allegra in 1975 with their 6 children for the opportunity to clear more land for farming. They worked hard together, and enjoyed the successes and challenges of farming. We children enjoyed many summer trips across Canada and the States with Mom and Dad, and they later travelled to Arizona for a number of winters. Mom also made 3 trips to Germany to visit family.
Mom was happiest outside on the farm and spent many hours in her weed free garden and yard, as well as taking care of her cows. Mom was very resourceful making do with whatever she had and enjoyed sewing (she had a talent for designing), trying new recipes, and researching healthy eating. After Dad died in 1995 Mom stayed on the farm for a number of years before moving to Beausejour and eventually into Eastgate Lodge. Her sisters Erika and Eleanor were amazing caregivers and helpers for Mom, and her later years were much richer with their loving care.
Mom’s faith and music were both important to her. She and Dad sang with friends in the group “The 5Ls”, singing in church and for funerals. She taught Sunday School and was a dedicated member of the St. John’s Ladies Aid. Mom was a gentle and calm person, who displayed great patience and worked very hard for her family.
Trudi was predeceased by her husband Herman, brothers in law George Smith and Bill Newton, niece Cindy Newton, nephew Kenny Newton, grandson Savanh Wollmann and son in law Victor Wollmann.
Trudi is survived by her children Mark (Lisa), Susan, Lorne (Gina), Nancy, Holly (Blaine) and Paul (Sharon), her grandchildren: Kevin (Rosanna), Kenny (Lauren), Kaitlyn (Mark), Lindsey (David), Tyone (Lorelle), Julianna (Levi), Donovan (Nicole), Brendan, Kamla, Liz (Trevor), Tim (Ashley), Emily (Robert), Kylie, Carolyn (Chris), Levi, Micah, Bo and Nora, 21 great-grandchildren and her beloved sisters, Erika and Eleanor.
