Our hearts are heavy to announce the passing of our father on August 11, 2026.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Chris and Lilah, our mother Arlene Carlin, their daughter Cheryl Anne Carlin, Dad ‘s brothers Leroy Carlin, Denny Renner. Dad is survived by his sister Ardis (95) and brother Edward (91), his children, Laurie, (Jim), Glenda (Bjorn), Darrin (Cheryl), Shannon, Albert, Hugh, grandchildren include; Jody, (Tim), Glenn, (Paige), Dustin, James, Ember, Aiden, Tony, (Marilyn), Pato. Great grandchildren include Alyssa, Dyllan, Dariyn, Dreyden, Dayton, Kolton, Sadie, Autumn, Ella, Bianca, Allen, Annie and many nieces and nephews.

Dad was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan on March 11, 1933. His family moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia in 1937. Dad joined the Royal Canadian Air Force right out of high school in 1951. He met the love of his life Arlene Dorothy Krieger, and they married in 1956. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2016. They had children: Laurie, Cheryl, Glenda, Darrin, Shannon, with Albert and Hugh joining us a bit later. Dad joined the North Kildonan Police department in 1960.

We had left Manitoba to move for a time to Abbotsford, Silverdale and Haney, British Columbia in 1965.

Dad joined his brothers on the tugs hauling logs on the Fraser River for Rivtow, enjoying his time as a first mate. 1971 saw the family move back to Winnipeg with Dad building houses, managing gas stations, joining the Corp of Commissioners’ serving at the Taxation center and U of M until his retirement. Dad and Mom then settled down on 10 acres in Cooks Creek. His favorite activities were on his Kubota Tractor landscaping, building garages, shops, and planting fruit trees.

Dad was an inspiration and a guiding influence on all us kids, and helped us see our potential and achieve it.

Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held
