John Gurela

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce that John Gurela passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 16, 2025 at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home at the age of 90 years. 

John was pre-deceased by his wife of 62 years, Rae Gurela, and survived by his children: Kelly (Al), Kathy, Karey, Konny (Bruce) and Kristy (Chris); grandchildren: Lyndsay, Leah, Jennifer, Nicole, Sean, Karlie, Josh, Jackson, Kyla, Karmen and great grandchildren: Wylie, Wynne, Avery, Walker, Sloan, and many nieces/nephews and their families.

Respecting John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. John’s family invites friends to take a few minutes to celebrate his life in their own way.

John was a proud veteran and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Legion. 

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the incredible staff at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home for the compassion, care and love they gave Dad; they were part of his very selective chosen family. Thank you as well to friends, neighbours and community members involved in Mom and Dad's lives over the years for their friendship and support.
