It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle, Kelvin Larry Lashek, who passed away at Selkirk Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on May 9, 2025, at the age of 51.
Kelvin leaves to mourn his parents Larry and Donna Lashek; brother Derek Lashek (Kellina); nieces Alexis and Hailey Lashek.
He will also be deeply missed by his aunts Gail Lashek, Florence Omichinski, Laura Gmiterek; and uncle Glen Lafreniere. Forever in the hearts of his cousins Jennifer Lashek (Ken), Michael (Kaarina) Lashek, Kyle Omichinski, Matthew Omichinski, Nicholas (Erin) Gmiterek and Jesse Gmiterek (Shania).
Kelvin was predeceased by his grandparents John and Josephine Lashek, Joe and May Lafreniere. Also, his uncles Clarence Lashek, Garry Omichinski, Keith Lafreniere and Randy Gmiterek. May they wrap their heavenly wings around him, comfort and protect him.
Kelvin was a nature-lover who enjoyed all the simple beauty given in life. His vision of the world around him and appreciation for all creation, could be seen in his photography. He was a perfectionist who kept the home and yard tidy. He also took that perfection and pride with him to his work at Beausejour GM. Growing up on the family farm Kelvin loved to plant and create beautiful and peaceful resting places. He had an exceptional love for flowers and could never walk past a plant at the market without bringing another one home. He had a deep and caring affection for his cats, Hector, June Bug and Teddy. Beyond all creatures, he cared for all his family and friends. With a smile he would always share his time to have a conversation. He also took pride in sharing his collectables with family and all others in need. His knowledge was wide-spread throughout many topics and he spoke from his heart. He had a great sense of humour, where out of no where, could bring laughter to all. Throughout his struggles and pain from the cancer he would remain to care for others before himself. He was graceful, polite and respectful. Kelvin was truly one of a kind, as God, broke the mold when bringing him into this world.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Van Rensburg, Dr. James Paul, Oncologist, HSC, Dr. Michael Bruneau, Lisa Kroeker, Wanda Wynter and Emma, Pinawa Hospital CancerCare Unit and Selkirk Regional Health Centre, for all their compassion and care.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
