Laurie Robert Ilchyna

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Laurie Robert Ilchyna announces his passing on August 8, 2026, at the age of 65, at his home in Beausejour, Manitoba.

Laurie will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Burnell, Norman (Dianne), Donald (Georgette), Dianne Percy (Ron), Larry (Gladys), Gail Zacharias, and Tracy (Brad Belshaw), as well as his sister-in-law Janet.

He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Audrey; his brother Dennis; his brother-in-law Craig Zacharias; and his nephew Clint.

Music was one of Laurie’s greatest gifts and joys. Entertaining came naturally to him, and over the years he mastered the piano, violin, accordion, and, most notably, shared his beautiful singing voice with those around him.

In earlier years, Laurie played with the band “Country Mist” alongside his mother, siblings, and friends, performing at legions, socials, and many community gatherings.

In later years, he found great joy in visiting seniors’ residences, nursing homes, and local events with family, bringing back beloved old tunes for sing-alongs and toe-tapping memories.

Laurie cherished the farm where he grew up and continued to live there until recently, when his health began to decline.

He especially loved taking his nieces and nephews around the farmyard, helping them feed the animals and gather eggs from the hen house.

Among his proudest moments were the times spent with family, playing instruments and singing songs together.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on September 2, 2026, at Ostenfeld Lutheran Church, 54057 Route 302, Anola, Manitoba.
