Lily came into this world on July 23, 1934. She left us on December 3, 2025. Lily was many things to many people – wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend.
Lily grew up on the family farm in Ashern, MB. After school she moved to Winnipeg and worked at Manitoba Tent and Awning. While working there she became close with one of her co-workers who introduced her to Mike. Lily and Mike were married on May 22, 1954. Their marriage of 63 years stands as a testament to their love.
Lily was a stay-at-home Mom with Audrey and Dianne. Lily was an exceptional seamstress. She ran an in-home business tailoring and creating clothing including wedding and bridesmaid gowns. Lily would try, and usually master, any and every type of craft and needlework.
Once Mike retired, Lily and Mike moved to Beausejour to be closer to family. Lily became part of a “coffee group” that met twice a week. This group of women were very special to her and have remained steadfast friends. Lily loved curling and while she may have missed shots on the ice, she never missed a shot from her armchair.
Lily moved to the Ironwood Gardens in Pinawa in the spring of 2024. Here she was surrounded by another group of special people. The staff and the residents became a part of her family. We are thankful that she felt safe and loved in this place.
Cherishing her memory are her children Audrey Miller (Neil), Dianne Babiak (John); grandchildren Barret Miller, Troy Miller (Sara), and Jonathan Babiak; great grandchildren Colby, Wyatt, Brooks and Laila Miller. Lily is survived by her sister Mary Kolodka (Ben) and brother Ted Fuchs (Monica); brother-in-law Ernie Schure (Rose); sister-in-law Thelma Hogue and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by all the Wirgau family.
Family and family times together were always treasured by Lily. We miss you and love you forever!
A Funeral Service for Lily will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 403 1st St. N., Beausejour, MB.
