Nikole Lee Kane

October 14, 1975 — March 28, 2024

Niki was born in Winnipeg at St. Boniface Hospital October 14th, 1975.

She lived with her Mom and Dad in a grocery store that her family owned .

Life was very busy at this time as her parents worked in the store, however Niki had her Nanny to look after her while Mom and Dad were working.  Niki formed a very close bond with Nanny that lasted until Nanny died.

Even at this stage of her life Niki had animals.   She always had cats and dogs .

Niki had two brothers Andrew and Lynn.  The boys were several years older than Niki.   Niki loved her brothers and they loved her. Niki loved her nieces and nephews without reservation.

Going to school Niki once told the class (when they were bragging about their relatives) that she was related to the Bobbsey Twins. Oh Niki!

Andrew went off to University and Lynn was still living at home.  Niki would carry a picture of her brother Lynn and tell everyone he was her boyfriend Jonathon.

When she was older she moved to Winnipeg, got a job with the government and life carried on.

While working she met Liv and a beautiful friendship was born.  Liv was such an amazing friend whom Niki loved dearly. Niki celebrated when Liv had her children and whenever they were together Niki felt Liv's children were an extension of her own. Niki was so proud of all Liv had accomplished.

Around this time Niki met James. The person whom she called the love of her life. They were married and had baby Bronwyn.  They moved into a house across the street from her Mom. These were times Niki's Mom cherished as she was able to help with Bronwyn whenever she was needed and able to spend time with James and Niki.

When Bronwyn was five or six they moved to Whitemouth on a small hobby farm.

The farm consisted of chickens, a duck named Disco and goats. Of course, Niki still had cats and dogs to round out the menagerie.

At this time Niki made another lifelong friendship with Randa.  Randa gave Niki a lot of comfort and love.  They were constantly in touch and Niki was so grateful to have a friend like Randa and loved her family.   Randa's girls called her Auntie Niki and Niki adored the girls.

After five or six years they moved from the farm into the town to make it easier for Bronwyn to get to school.

Niki cherished all the friends she had in Whitemouth and Elma but never left her childhood friends behind.

Niki loved Bronwyn and would always say how blessed she was to have James and Bronwyn.

Without James Niki could not have managed as long as she did.  James was constantly looking after Niki, making sure she had enough drinks and food to last until he got home from work.  He spent a great deal of time getting Niki to Doctors and appointments.   Took care of her medications and was just always there for Niki. No wonder she adored him.

Niki was kind, gentle and loving. She was truly genuine. Never discriminatory or judgmental – giving love and comfort to anyone who needed it.

Everyone was welcome and she would greet them all with her beautiful smile.

Niki – a sweet soul who longed to see Bronwyn graduate and some day see her married and having her own babies.

In passing Niki will soon be with her Dad-Leslie Bruce, her Grandmother-Nanny Fox, Grandparents-Len and Robbie Bruce, Stepfather-Gary Klowak, Auntie Bev and Uncle Vic, Auntie Peggy Bruce and Auntie Joyce.
