It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norman “Norm” Bruce Ulyatt on January 31, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born June 22, 1946, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Clifford and Catherine Ulyatt. Norm excelled academically and went on to study Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba. During his studies, Norm began working with Dillon Consulting, with whom he went on to enjoy a very successful career as an engineer, earning widespread respect for his knowledge and expertise. During his illustrious career Norm was asked to represent his company not only domestically with the Winnipeg Floodway expansion, but also in Bangladesh and Jamaica.
Norm married his beloved wife, Marian (nee Nixon) in 1969, and together they lovingly raised two children, Janice and Greg. Norm was known for his sharp intellect and distinctive sense of humour. In his personal life he was a devoted father and a doting grandfather. When he and Marian weren’t traveling the world together, Norm could often be found at Niakwa Country Club.
Norm is survived by his cherished wife of 56 years, Marian, children Janice (Darryl) Boch and Greg, and grandchildren Matthew, Ashley, Kyle, Mackenzie, and Sabene. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Niakwa Country Club.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to a charitable organisation of their choosing.
