Olive Lydia Beebe-Meilleur

March 28, 1950 — March 28, 2023

1950-2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Olive Lydia Beebe-Meilleur, who passed away in her home with family by her side on December 3, 2023, at the age of 72.

She is predeceased by her parents John and Martha of Wabowden; her sisters Minnie, Grace, Mary, and baby sister Lillian; as well, many beloved family members, friends and her baby dog Lucky.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband Maurice; son Todd; grandson Taylor (Kelsey) and great-granddaughter Georgia; Michel (Danica, Adalyn, Ethan), Maurice, Annette (Twayne), Nicole (Aaron), Ashleigh (Jayson), along with their children and grandchildren. As well she leaves to mourn her sisters Gladys, Anne (Dan), Patsy (Dale), Florence; and brothers Rudy (Margaret) and Carlo; sister and brother in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her sweet boy Buddy will miss her so much. She will be missed dearly by all.

Olive was born and raised in Wabowden, MB, and she spent many of her years working at generating stations in the north. While living many years in Gillam, Manitoba, she had a love for hairdressing and had a successful business called Chow’s and enjoyed cooking up everyone’s favorite Chester Fried Chicken. Olive and her husband later retired to Beausejour, Manitoba.

She had an ear for music, loved her guitar, sang like an angel and jigged like no other. Olive looked forward to meeting up with her friends at the Legion for bingo and enjoyed her time working at the Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre. Everyone that has encountered Olive would have felt her love and warmth. She will also be remembered for her charm, humor, grace, and talent. She carried herself with dignity, strength and praise. Her legacy will live on forever. In Olives words, she wanted us to remember… “To learn to live the life that we have to.”

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Puff and her Palliative Care team, to the home care team and the countless health care team members that were there for her – Especially her niece Sandi and dear friend Edna, who went above and beyond so that Olive could be in the comforts of her own home.

As per Olive’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned for a future date in Wabowden, Manitoba.
