Patrick Michael Gmiterek

d. Oct 6, 2026

Sadly, the family announces the unexpected passing of Pat on Paint Lake, MB. He was fortunate to live on the waterfront at Paint Lake for more than 25 years while working for Manitoba Hydro out of Thompson, MB. He volunteered for Paint Lake Fire Department to help protect his community.

Several years ago he retired to a hide away in the bush at Milner Ridge. There he enjoyed the solitude with the deer and bear that frequented his yard. A hunter fisherman extraordinaire is how you could describe him. He was involved with any and every group that involved the outdoors, hunting or fishing. He was very generous whether you went to his place or he came to yours, he always shared his bounty of walleye and deer or moose sausage.

Pat is survived by brother Paul (Lauree), sister Teresa (Greg), niece MacKenzie (Aaron), great nephew Kade, great niece Loewen, nephew Christian, great niece Nova, brother in-law Charlie Relf, nephews Tyler (Sherry) & Ryan. Also, many, many friends, life-long friends Kelly Walterson and Kelly Tymko, and special friends Carthia from Beausejour as well as Roxanne and Christy from Paint Lake.

Pat was predeceased by brother Pete, sister Donna and parents Casmir and Eleanor.

We never know when our last day is. Pat went out doing what he loved most, moose hunting and enjoying nature. He did in fact get his moose as it was laying on the shore where his boat was anchored and there was a spent shell on the floor of his boat.

Some of his ashes will be spread on Paint Lake and a come and go Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday, November 8th from 1 to 3 pm at the Beausejour Legion. Thank you to everyone at Paint Lake who helped to get him home.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ken Marshall, Barry Schrum, Quenton Grant, Billy Bennett, Kerry McNabb, Christian Gmiterek, and youngsters Jessa McNabb and Gavin Bennett.
