Phyllis Beatrice Podolsky (nee Buhay)

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother on September 13, 2026, at the Pinawa Hospital, at the age of 92.

 She will be loving remembered by her sons Cam (Lorraine), Neil (Kim), Laurie and Todd; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; nephew Gary (Kathy) Buhay; Valerie (Dennis) Lyons; and nieces and nephews.

 She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Stella Buhay, in-laws Harry and Pauline Podolsky, her husband Morris, son Brent, and brothers Lawrence and Raymond.

 Phyllis was born and raised in Brightstone, Manitoba where she met and married her true love, Morris. They were happily married for 49 years raising 5 boys.

 Her proudest accomplishment was being a mother and homemaker. She would do anything for her boys.

 Her happiest times were when she had the whole family gathered for a meal. Mom was an outstanding cook, but was famous for her perogies and cabbage rolls. She always cooked enough to feed an army, and you never left the house without a container to go, take…take, she would always say!

 She worked alongside Morris at The Lac du Bonnet Arena for many years. It was hard work and long hours, where she cared and scared many a rink rat over the years. Phyllis was never afraid of hard work. She didn’t know how to sit idle. She was always doing or making something. Although this last year, it was more her “telling” what to do or what to make!!

 Phyllis enjoyed picking berries and mushrooms, and we all benefited from her fruits of labour. She always took great pride in her beautiful flowers and large garden. She enjoyed watching the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays and always had some choice words for the players she didn’t like.

There’s magic in a mother’s touch,

and sunshine in her smile.

There’s love in everything she does

to make our lives worthwhile.

Rest in Peace Mom.

 Special thanks to Christine and Mike, Teresa and Ed, Alice, Johnny Kettles (whom she often referred to as son #6), and Elizabeth Schinkel for all your frequent visits to Mom while she was at home.

 The family extends their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Pinawa Hospital for the compassion and care they provided to our mother. How fortunate we were to have such an exceptional team looking after her.

 Your kindness will not be forgotten.

 Thank you to Dr. Bruneau and staff for the care and understanding shown to Mom over the years.

 As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at the Brightstone cemetery at a later date.
