It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearly loved father Richard (Dick) Kropp.
Richard will be deeply missed by his son Tim Kropp and Tim’s daughters Taylor and Teagan as well as
his daughter Marni and son-in-law Steve Dackiw along with their children Spenser and Kolten.
For those of you who knew Dad well, you’ll smile at the fact that he has gotten the last word in…he actually wrote his own obituary which we will share with you now…
My name is Richard Kropp and I have died on April 30th at the age of 86.
I decided to write my own obituary because I didn’t want anyone trying
to write a glowing report of me. I really didn’t have any major accomplishments
or received any major awards in life, aside from having two wonderful children,
Tim and Marni.
I always worked and tried to do the best for my family. I didn’t always do the right thing
or say the right thing, so if there is anyone I hurt, I am truly sorry. My life was not perfect and
I encountered many bumps in the road, but I learned, accepted and moved on.
Some people may think it’s odd to write your own obituary, but I think it’s great because
I get a chance to say “thank-you” and “goodbye” to all the people who helped me along the way,
to those who loved me, cared for me and laughed and cried with me.
I was born in Port Arthur, ON (which is now Thunder Bay, ON) on July 12th, 1938, and moved to
Geraldton, ON. I left Geraldton, ON at 17 to start my construction years settling in MB. I
retired in 1993 in Great Falls, MB.
I am predeceased by my parents Timothy and Dora Kropp, sister Joyce and longtime love of
my life Pat (Bracken).
If you think of me and would like to do something in my honor, be kind or give someone a big hug and a kiss on the cheek in my memory.
As per Dad’s wishes there won’t be a formal service, however Dad wanted to have a small casual gathering with family and close friends. A Celebration of Life is planned for July 20th in the Great Falls Hall at 1pm, in Great Falls, Manitoba.
We would also like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to Dr Szelemej, Dr Waye and the wonderful health care workers who assisted with Dad’s care during his stay in the Concordia Hospital…as well as friend Lillian Kemball.
Also, to Christian and Mandy, you are family, and we are so grateful.
Missing you Dad… until we meet again
