Sharon Lily Biddiscombe (née Kilmury)

January 2, 1946 — September 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that the Biddiscombe family of Pinawa announces the passing of Sharon Lily Biddiscombe – beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was 79.

Sharon was a Prairie girl at heart, born in Deloraine MB and raised in nearby Boissevain. Growing up, Sharon was a regular at the local Highway Lunch Restaurant where her parents worked tirelessly as the owners. As a young girl, Sharon joined the Girl Guides and would stay involved with them for the next 20+ years. In her late teens, Sharon attended St Michael’s Academy in Brandon then moved to Winnipeg afterwards. Shortly thereafter, Sharon met her future husband Bud, and the two were married not long after. Since Bud was in the Air Force, the young couple with their growing family were posted several times, first to Trenton ON, then Germany, Greenwood NS, and finally Cold Lake AB. In 1980, they moved to Pinawa where they spent the rest of their lives together.

Sharon was well known to many over the years in Pinawa. Mother of Steve (Grad 1987) and Jeff (Grad 1989), Sharon became well known to many teenagers in the 80s – even known by some as “the cool mom.” She worked at the local Bay store for many years, first in the Butcher shop then on cash. After taking a job as a lunchtime monitor at Gilbert Elementary in the 2000s, Sharon became known to a whole new generation of Pinawa’s youth. An avid painter, Sharon was involved with the Eastman Juried Art Exhibition during the 1980s – 2000s. She also lent her hand to the local knitting club, and was a member of the Lioness Club.

In her later years, Sharon enjoyed going on cruises in the Caribbean and wintering in Victoria BC. Although she slowed down in her final years, Sharon still enjoyed Aquasizing in the pool, riding her scooter around town, and coffeeing with friends. Of Sharon’s many experiences over her lifetime, she cherished her family most of all – especially being a grandmother.

Sharon is survived by her husband Eugene (“Bud”), sons Steven and Jeffrey, grandchildren Ciara and Devon, niece Lori Dowd (née Kilmury), and nephew Scott Kilmury. As per her final wishes, Sharon’s ashes will be returned to Boissevain and reunited with the graves of her parents and brother.

In celebration of Sharon’s life, an informal reception will be held at the Pinawa Golf Club, 1 Willis Dr., Pinawa, MB on Friday, 26 September, 3-5 pm. All who knew Sharon are welcome to stop in and share a coffee, dainties and a memory or two. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pinawa Foundation.
