Virginia Marie Hodge

Virginia was born on February 9, 1945, and died just a few days before her 81st birthday on February 5, 2026. She passed away peacefully and gently in the early morning. Those present during her passing felt truly blessed to have been with her at this time.

Virginia was predeceased by her parents Napoleon and Josephine Jenvenne, her brother Ralph Jenvenne, and two sisters, Yvonne Henry and Celine Storrier.

She is survived by her three children, Audrey Friesen, Brian Friesen and Sheila Friesen.

Also surviving Virginia are her siblings RoseMarie McLeod, Terri Schwartz (Bill), Fern Kost, Art Jenvenne (Brenda), Louis Jenvenne (Charmian), Mike Jenvenne, Louise Stroet (Adrian) and Marc Jenvenne (Louise).

Because of Virginia’s very large family, she is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and family friends too numerous to name for fear of omitting dozens of them.

Virginia was an extremely gifted seamstress. She loved to knit and crochet. She loved going to the Legion and was a member of the Pioneer Club. She was an avid crib player. She and her friend, Margaret Karklin once achieved a perfect 29 point hand during a weekly crib evening. She loved attending the weekly Legion Bingo evenings.

A special love Virginia had her entire life was birds. She always had her cages of birds which she doted on. Her last birds were finches, some of which actually produced babies themselves. A special thank you to Isabelle Fontaine who took her last bird and cared for it when Virginia was no longer able to care for it herself.

Virginia was Virginia…quirky, stubborn as the day was long, quick to laugh, a dedicated coffee drinker and always uniquely herself.

Virginia’s family would like to thank ALL the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home which was her home for the last two years of her life. Their care, concern and kindness for Virginia was very apparent and so appreciated.

No formal service will be held. Please join us to share your remembrances and stories on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lac du Bonnet Legion Branch #164 (use side door). A light lunch will be served. Hope to see you there.
