Bernice was born in Ladywood on July 30, 1926. She married her husband John on November 1, 1946. Together Bernice and John raised four children on a mixed farm in Green Oak.
Mom was hard working in order to provide for her family. She loved working outdoors in her huge garden and whenever you were visiting you never left hungry or empty handed. Mom always made a lunch and coffee or a full course meal. And you were always sure to go with vegetables, fresh eggs, perogies, holubtsi, homemade noodles, perishky, pickles, soups, pidpenky and her famous cheesecake. For fun she went blueberry and mushroom picking. Mom loved the spring season, especially lilacs, begonias and geraniums. Mom kept ducks, geese and chickens for meat and down. She made comforters and pillws from the down for her children and grandchildren. Mom was a very loving, caring and generous person. She was a great cook and would do anything for her family.
She looked forward with great anticipation to the birth of each grandchild and great grandchild. Family was special. She never raised her voice or said an unkind word with her children. She was the absolute BEST Mother.
At the age of 60, mom retired to Beausejour, where she enjoyed her weekly bingo, playing cards with her friends and family and going to the lake.
Mom loved country western and Ukrainian music and especially missed her dear friend Helen Bialek.
Thank you Mom for always being there. We love you dearly and are going to miss you with all our hearts. You worked so hard all your life. It’s your time to rest.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at East Gate Lodge for the past 4 ½ years. The care and respect you have shown our mother was wonderful.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Pallbearers were Bernice’s grandsons Kevin and Clayton Suttorp, Derek, Tyler and Neil Holigroski and Jeffrey Matychak.

Rest in Peace, Mom.
