Cedric Nelson Gibson (Gib)

September 3, 1937 ~ August 14, 2022

After several years of declining health, Gib has found rest.  Left to miss him are Ina, his wife of 64 years; sons Vince (Connie) and Allan; cherished granddaughters Alex (Julian) and Emma;  their mother Bronwyn; sister Betty; twin brother Cecil; sister-in-law Phyllis; brother-in-law Syd (Shirley); numerous nieces and nephews and cousins; our church family, friends and neighbours.

After serving 30 years in the Air Force, he took his release and enjoyed a long retirement, bird-watching and having almost daily get-togethers with his coffee buddies.  Don Mann, Gib and Gord Malinski (MGM) had a special bond and worked hard helping to build our new church.  If anything needed doing at church – call MGM.  They happily did this duty for many years.

Our thanks to the staff at the hospital for their kindness and understanding of a cranky patient and to Sobering Funeral Chapel for all their support.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church, Beausejour, MB.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the St. Paul’s memorial fund, or the Beausejour Hospital TV Fund would be appreciated or a charity of your choice.

We did not meet often over the years. When we did it was usually associated with a Gibson family reunion. Our recollections are of an always beaming smile and very welcoming presence.
Gwen and I extend our condolences.

i am so sorry Ina, I picture Gib as always smiling (with his pipe). He had such a great dry sense of humour and there was usually laughter around him and as mentioned, Gord and Don were not far away. As we get older and start fading, I am glad we have friends and kids whose turn it is to tell stories, continue the memories, and prepare for those yet to come. God Bless

Our sympathies go out to Ina and Families at this time. I worked with Gibby for 5 years at the closing
of the radar base. There was always a joke to be shared and he was very good at telling them and
    enjoying` others.
R.I.P. Gibby. It was a pleasure to know you.

Dearest Ina and family…. Ernest and I just learned of Gib’s passing and want to send you hugs and prayers. I would often see him walk out to the road about 2 km behind you. We always thought he walked out there to be official greeter when you returned from your walks. I often think of our time together when he signed up for that week long canoe trip. We all knew it was R&R time when Gib pulled out the pipe around the evening fire. He had such a repertoire of jokes and stories that you never needed to bring a book to read! He was a good neighbor and a helping friend to so many. We will come and visit Ina when we return from the Maritimes. Rest in peace Gibby. You have been a good and faithful servant and now your work is done.

Sincere sympathy to the Gibson family. When Cecil and Cedric were around the Calverley farm, there was lots of good humour and laughter. I have fond memories of all the Gibson family being in our area, and now today, Betty is gone as well. Thinking of Cedric’s family, and Cecil who has lost his twin.

Ina I am sorry to hear about Gib’s passing. I am so glad I had the chance opportunity to see the both of you a couple weeks ago. He was the kind of guy that took great pleasure in putting a smile on your face with one of his stories. We could use a few more people like him around to remind us of the importance of a good laugh now and then, he will be missed.
