1934 ~ 2017

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie and friend Eileen Mary Lauder at the Poseidon Care Centre on February 16, 2017.

Survived by her children William (Linda) and Tim (Christa); grandchildren William, Katie, Colin, Carli and Kierra; sisters Shirley Miller and Bev Bula; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents Thure Petterson and Gladys Wolence; brother Carl; brothers in-law Ted and Don; and sister in-law Freda.

Born May 11, 1934 at Selkirk, Manitoba to Gladys and Thure (Ted) Petterson 20 minutes ahead of her twin sister Shirley.  Eileen grew up in Great Falls, Manitoba.  In her younger years, she enjoyed curling, swimming and baseball.  She loved to knit and made many mitts, scarves and dishcloths.  She worked in the staff house at Great Falls before moving to Winnipeg.

She married Bill Lauder in 1965 and moved to Alberta where she raised her family.  She moved back to Brandon in the early eighties to be close to her brother Carl and family.  She enjoyed her part-time employment and volunteering.  She loved her Lord and enjoyed going to church, and especially the singing.  In 2006, she moved to Lac du Bonnet to be close to her sister Shirley.  She was active in many ministries at Abundant Life Chapel.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for the wonderful care she received during her stay at Poseidon Care Centre.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Eileen’s memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Manitoba and Winnipeg Branch, 930 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg MB  R3G 0P8.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 12:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E, Beausejour, with viewing one hour prior.
