Gerald Alexander Worden

1940 ~ 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Alexander Worden at the age of 74 on November 5, 2014 at Pinawa Hospital.

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret Jean Worden (nee Brand) Burnside; daughter Pamela Hartner and husband Dave; son David Worden and wife Tammy; grandchildren Taryn and Jake Hartner, and Cassie Worden; step daughters Laurie Burnside, Linda Burnside, Cathey and Jerry Gornik, Nicole and Megan, Chris and Jim Adolfson, Shawna and Kyle; sisters Donna and Dave Green, Shirley and Glen Moore, Pat Dunlop and Peter Kirby; many nieces and nephews; and pet dog Lady Patches.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents William Stuart and Maude Rachel (nee Pollock) Worden, and sister Judy.

Gerry was born in Vancouver, B.C. and moved to Winnipeg as a small child.  He attended school in Winnipeg and studied accounting at University of Manitoba.  Gerry was employed as an accountant at Winnipeg General Hospital and then moved to Bermuda where he installed the computer system at the Bermuda Hospital.  In 1979 he and his family were transferred to Head Office in Vancouver where Gerry was Head Accountant.  His work took him to many different countries including Egypt and Zambia.

The family wishes to thank Dr. M. Bruneau and the kind and caring nursing staff at Pinawa Hospital.

Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Lac du Bonnet with Marline Wruck officiating.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Society 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
